“Elephant Ears Missing” – Song By: Ronnie and Heather Whitley Gibson

This is a new version of an older song of ours that was popular when it first came out and really got us a lot of attention from a lot of people. When we did this song we realized we could write songs in any genre we wanted and that we would. This is a really good version of this song that we worked very hard on and it was well worth the wait. Enjoy!

he unforeseen, folded and creased
the unforeseen, folded and creased

he smell himself, his shelling skin
molting snake, lashed, drying stems
swollen morning, eyes, crusted gems
rose colored cake, half mooned, stars pinned

the icing, butter churned race
where mercury melts, small signature slips
where blood once flowed, and flies bit
his elephant ears missing
his elephant ears missing

bloated and salted, Wednesday sun
an outpost, a harpoon sky
rebuilds a break, tattoo revised
stolen poems

watery lines, diseases left out
river chimes, one slow guitar
words undone, time dawned domain
his elephant ears missing
his elephant ears missing

a sewed costume, a hanging spoon
what an elephant hears
what an elephant hears

roles renamed, fingers shared hands
so brittle they play, together dis banned
the licensed, and unarranged
missing elephant ears

hovering, in post pone rain
breath cradled, the pro paned pain
thickness of snow, moaned and moved
elephant ears missing
elephant ears missing

what an elephant hears
what an elephant hears
what an elephant hears
what an elephant hears

the unforeseen, folded and creased
the unforeseen, folded and creased

Me thinks it is WE who are missing our elephant ears, not hearing the folded, creased pages upon which our lives are writ blow away!
